When it comes to choosing where to stay in Venice, it will be useful to know which district – or sestiere if you would like to use the Venetian word – is the best one, according to your needs.
We have already had the chance to write about why we recommend the Cannaregio area for your stay – and not just because our hotel is located here – but in this article, we’ll reveal how to choose the perfect district depending on how you want to spend your holiday in Venice.
Where to stay if you plan to visit the Venice Casino and La Fenice Theatre
As you may know, the Venice Casino is the oldest one in Europe, and it’s housed inside a beautiful Venetian Palazzo, called Ca’ Vendramin Calergi, which absolutely deserves to be seen, especially if you like gambling once in a while.
The Venice Casino is located in Cannaregio district, a few minutes away from our hotel. You can reach it without taking any vaporettos, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy a short walk after dinner, under the stars.
If you want to spend a night at the Venice Opera House – the famous La Fenice Theatre – and you choose to stay in Cannaregio, you can easily reach it by taking the vaporetto line 1 or walking for about 20 minutes. Of course, you need to respect the dress code to be accepted inside La Fenice Theatre.
Where to stay in Venice if you’re only interested in its top attractions
If you haven’t got enough time to visit Venice properly, but only a weekend and want to make the most of it, the best choice would be San Marco district. In this way, you’ll be close to all the top attractions. Moreover, if you want to do some shopping while in Venice, this sestiere is the one where to find all the most famous brands.
If you don’t mind walking and you would like to stay close to the Train Station, just remember that our hotel is located only five minutes away, and we can store your luggage on your last day if you need us to.
Where to stay in Venice if you want to see the islands of the Venetian Lagoon
If you’re planning to visit Burano, Murano, and Torcello islands, there are two districts you can choose for your stay: Cannaregio and Castello.
The fastest way to reach the three main islands of the Venetian lagoon is taking the vaporetto, using your Venice City Pass.
Of course, if you prefer to join a Venice Islands Tour on a private boat, we can certainly help you with that.
Where to stay in Venice for the Carnival
Everyone wants to attend the Carnival of Venice at least once in their lifetime and the excitement of being part of this incredible event can’t be ruined by choosing the wrong place to stay, can it?
If you want to enjoy the Carnival, but be free to sleep and relax at night, without the risk of having a party right underneath the window of your room, try not to book your stay near Rialto Bridge or St. Mark’s Square.
We hope we gave you some useful information to help you decide where to stay in Venice, especially if it’s your first time here. Don’t forget to have a look at our offers, particularly if you’re planning to book your stay in advance!
